5Best underlayment I've usedOct 25, 2011
By Dennis "Carefree"
I've installed laminate flooring four previous times -- all using the white styro-type underlayments. All were a pain to used and left undesirably noisy floors (this includes the expensive Roberts red roll with the white dots, which I found the worst of all).

The felt roll was easy to roll AND IT ROLLED OUT FLAT. No wrinkling, made it much easier to install the laminate. The same roll of felt was sold at local Lowes for $50/roll, I bought it from Amazon for appx $30/roll (including shipping). Moreover, I ordered it on a Wednesday with the free shipping option, and it arrived on Saturday.

4very thin filmOct 20, 2011
By T. Tran "the shopper"
Don't count the green plastic layer as your vapor barrier. It's very thin and easily tore. The felt is good, but the film is very very bad. If the manufacturer used better quality film, this underlayment would be one of the best, and I'd gladly to pay more to get it.

Update: I bought 2 more rolls for another room installation. I compared the rolls from my first order with the second order's and found that:
1- the felt from first order was softer and thinner than the second's.
2 - the green plastic top from the first order was thinner than the second's.
In summary, the underlayment from my second order had better quality. The felt felt solid and the vapor barrier top felt thicker.

Other thought: The manufacturer should control their product's quality better.

1Low Quality ProductJul 09, 2012

Ridiculously thin film tears very easily. Inconsistent thickness from 1 roll to another. Irregular edges along short sections made it difficult to achieve a tight non-overlapping seam. Firmness of felt padding feels soft compared to other felt underlayments. Could not find a compression rating for this product but I suspect it does not compare favorably to competitors products. Of the 2 rolls I purchased 1 roll was spliced along the entire length of the roll, had a 6" x 3" gouge near the center of the roll and had several wood chips trapped within the roll. This product does not compare favorably to similar felt underlayments sold by MP Global or Lowes- - - do yourself a favor and spend a couple dollars more for a better product.

5Great product at a good price.Sep 27, 2012
By Drew M.
I was installing engineered wood floor in my media room. It was carpet before and I wasn't too sure how "bright" the room was going to sound. I actually think it sounds better than before. The floor doesn't feel hard because it has some give when you step on it. I also think it helps control the echoes, while working in the room before the floor underlayment was installed the room was terible and I thought that the hardwood floor wasn't going to be much better, but too my suprise the room doesn't sound much diferent than a carpeted floor.

Like others have said it is hard to cut, forget using a utility blade you need scissors, they work just fine except except for when the undelayment is already on the ground and your trying to use then next to the wall. Floor scissors would have solved that.
