Best underlayment I've usedOct 25, 2011
By D. Stovall

I've installed laminate flooring four previous times -- all using the white styro-type underlayments. All were a pain to used and left undesirably noisy floors (this includes the expensive Roberts red roll with the white dots, which I found the worst of all).
The felt roll was easy to roll AND IT ROLLED OUT FLAT. No wrinkling, made it much easier to install the laminate. The same roll of felt was sold at local Lowes for $50/roll, I bought it from Amazon for appx $30/roll (including shipping). Moreover, I ordered it on a Wednesday with the free shipping option, and it arrived on Saturday.

very thin filmOct 20, 2011

Don't count the green plastic layer as your vapor barrier. It's very thin and easily tore. The felt is good, but the film is very very bad. If the manufacturer used better quality film, this underlayment would be one of the best, and I'd gladly to pay more to get it.
Update: I bought 2 more rolls for another room installation. I compared the rolls from my first order with the second order's and found that: 1- the felt from first order was softer and thinner than the second's. 2 - the green plastic top from the first order was thinner than the second's. In summary, the underlayment from my second order had better quality. The felt felt solid and the vapor barrier top felt thicker.
Other thought: The manufacturer should control their product's quality better.

Very pleased!Oct 27, 2011
By John Wyatt This is a great underlayment and we are very pleased with both the ease of installation and the performance! We used it for a nail down solid strand bamboo flooring on our main level (above a basement). The felt rolls out easily and lays flat. The adhesive strip provides good attachment to the adjacent felt, but can be repositioned if necessary. I am a bit surprised the other review reports the green plastic tore easily. I actually think this is a very good and strong film and we had no tears at all. We had to remove one row of boards with nails, and the film didn't even tear in that process. The finished floor feels very solid and quiet. I like that the fibers are recycled and would prefer this over any of the styrofoam underlayments. I recommend this product!
Best underlayment for laminateMay 22, 2012

I have put down about 200 sq. feet of laminate in the last month and used this underlayment only. It has the best under-foot feeling! It is hard to cut since it uses recycled fabric but I used my utility knife and a pair of scissors. Just used duct tape to butt it together. It is awesome!
