After doing a lot of looking around for an underlayment AND moisture barrier for my engineered wood flooring I came across this in Home Depot. After seeing that it did everything I wanted in one product (instead of having to buy 2-3 separate things) I was skeptical but my interest was piqued. I came home and while doing some research found that it was even cheaper here on Amazon so decided to take the plunge. Turns out it was absolutely worth it. This stuff is dead simple to install and does help the floor sound great (there's none of that "empty" sound when I walk on it). I also did a quick, simple little moisture test of my own (poured some water on a spare piece to see what would come through) and found it worked quite well. My only complaint is that some of the little Styrofoam balls came out from between the two "sheets" which caused a tiny bit of extra cleanup but more importantly makes me wonder how this will hold up long term. Guess only time will tell for that one.

Almost half the price of the same product at the big box store. No styrofoam balls noted during my installation. Floor is not totally soundproof but gives me piece of mind having a moisture barrier in the basement under my new laminate floors. Great product, even better price and fast shipping!

This is agood product for much cheaper price on amazon.The hollow sound i believe not only depends on underlayment but also on the laminate.I used this underlayment for 15 inch laminate and have no major complaints.Only issue i had was cutting it.Its kinda difficult but i guess it is same for any other product.I dont have any hollow sound.overall i recommend this.

I read the reviews on this and only found a negative one that I researched more. Ther was a complaint about the small foam balls (pellets about 2mm in size) getting loose and making noise...so to remedy this I always kept a broom close to keep the floor clean of any staples and small bits of construction material off the floor prior to laying this down. SO have a sharp carpet knife to cut the material, keep the floor clean (removing old staples from pulled padding)and just prior to laying laminate floor do a quick sweep again. This is the first time I have installed lamanite floor and could not be more pleased. BTW when you are ready to install lamanite flooring check the subfloor for loose plywood squares that creak an few screws down will make things quiet. I liked the fact that this material only compresses to 96% of its shape. Our floor feels like it is 1 inch hardwood on a cement floor and not 12mm on a plywood floor.The fact that it allows breathing between laminate and subfloor will cut down on mold built up. Also I saved 30% ordering from Amazon over the Big Orange Depot Guys...REMEMER TO KEEP FLOOR SWEPT ALL THE TIME..for the guy who had the problems with the loose pellets thank you for bringing this to our attention...
