Poor tool for safetyJun 13, 2011
By MAC27 When you grab the tool by the extended handle you accidentally hit the on switch which is underneath where you can't see it and the saw goes on. All my other power tools such as a circular saw and a reciprocal saw have a button which you have to press before you hit the on switch. I just cut 11 jambs and the saw went on unexpectedly 3-4 times when I grabbed it. I am going to return it before I hurt myself.

Good luck finding replacement bladesJan 31, 2010

I bought this saw and it works fine but when it comes time for replacement blades good luck finding them locally. I live in a major metro area and no one sells them. Roberts decided to use off standards blades for this saw so Lowe's and Home Depot are no resource. Home depot used to sell this saw but they no longer do and since they no longer carry the saw they no longer carry the blades. Save yourself the trouble and get a saw that has standard blades otherwise you have to order them and pay a premium.

Dangerous ToolOct 10, 2011
By Floor Man Be very careful using this tool!!! The instruction book even leaves out the black shut off button near the blade, with the arrow pointing to it. Trial and error are the only to know this tool. Just don't cut yourself in the process. I did.
The emergency room doctor told me I was lucky it did not cut an artery.

Serious Design ProblemsSep 04, 2010
By Curt On my first use of the Jamb saw I was shocked at how much saw dust flew out at you. Most of my uses of this item caused the saw dust to come at your face. I ended up using my whole face shield.
This item more than any I have worked with sets you up for an injury with its safety mechanism. You need to move the saw about 6" in one direction before the safety guard clears the saw. I have used the saw on 6 different places. None would allow this kind of movement so I needed to manually move the guard taking up one hand which this saw definitely needs for it to be used effectively.
The third problem with this saw is the nut system that hold the saw blade in place. On my first use the nut came loose. So I tightened it down good and worked fine until I tried to take the blade off. The bar which you use to loosen (and tighten) the nut has two little bumps which you fit into the nut. When the nut is tight the bar slips out. It might work if you could apply two hands to the rotation of the nut but you have to use one hand to hold a button down to keep the blade from turning.
A jamb saw has so many uses that it is sad this one is so poorly designed. Wish I could send it back but used it too often for that. I would not recommend its purchase.
exactly rightMay 21, 2012
By Lee R. Chavez I have been putting in plank hardwood flooring and needed to undercut the door jambs....tried several ways until I found out that there are jamb saws like this one. The saw is absolutely the right tool for the job. You can adjust the fence height so that you cut the right heigth each time. The saw is great to control your cut and you are literally done in seconds with your cut. You can also undercut baseboard if you want to run your boards under it....comes in handy when you have complicated angles to run your board under instead of trying to do overly complicated notch cuts. I am generally a higher level than a hobbyist and don;t give tools high ratings if they aren't right on the money....this one deserves five stars. Couldn't be happier with it.
