Works for Touch UpsMay 28, 2011
By Spudman They're inevitable, those scratches on tables, woodwork, or cabinets. Even the smallest of them seems to be too noticeable, ruining an otherwise beautiful finish. For these irritants I like the Minwax Stain Markers, a magic marker for furniture. The Stain Markers last for years, so it's safe to have more than one on hand. I always have five or more at the ready.
Inside the metal tube is a ball bearing to mix the stain while you shake. If the marker doesn't seem to be working, press down on it to fill the tip with stain. In my experience the stain doesn't have to be an exact match. After application wipe if off quickly. If a darker shade is desired, reapply or try a different stain marker color.
The Minwax Stain Markers aren't 100% foolproof; sometimes a wood just won't accept a stain or has a finish over it that is blocking the stain. Sometimes a little sanding of the area can be helpful.
I've even used these stain markers on our Pergo floors. I noticed some chips in one of the planks and tried repairing them with the golden oak stain marker. It matched perfectly. For a patch on the floor, even close would have been satisfactory.
Occasionally I'll use other brands of stain markers, but Minwax markers are still work best for this Potato Head.

This Marker is Just Right for Your Furniture...It's a Stain MarkerJul 30, 2009
By first words...God's breath It doesn't take very long for a cabinet, a table, or other wood furniture to take on scratches, once you have this piece of furniture in your house. MINWAX produces a number of "marker type" stain markers to touch up and stain whatever it is that needs that little cover up. We're not talking about major refinishing of the exterior of your kitchen cabinets, desk, or bookcases; these markers will replace the space with a compatible match; just check the chart which shows the shade of wood finish, and try your hand at repairing a simple scratch. It is rather inexpensive, and you are more than likely going to use this marker a few more times.

Did not stain for me..Nov 21, 2009
By T. Tucker I tried this because it seemed like a simple idea and I had such small areas to fix on my table. I left the stuff on the area over night and it did not stain it. Lucky for me no one an see it. Maybe it will work for you. Also, the smell is so bad may need a fan.
DisappointedApr 01, 2012

This stain pen is very runny (at least the one I got), does not stain the color it says, not even after multiple applications. It's "ok" for skinny scratches, but no nicks. Definitely disappointed.
